ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I painted Red Rain about a year after moving back to Louisiana, this Southern US state where oil, gas and chemical plants line the Mississippi River. Their stark spiny architecture is juxtaposed by the verdant subtropical lushness of the area near New Orleans were I live. Nature and the man-made live together here. And while I want to accept both, I lean towards Nature. When it rains, the man-made plants often let out their debris, still the rain nourishes the land and is beautiful.
