The subject matter of my work is approached with openness and freedom. I allow myself to explore any theme that feels significant in a given moment, responding intuitively to my mood and translating my thoughts into visual form. In this way, my practice becomes a continuous commentary on my everyday life—an accumulation of reflections that form an intrinsic extension of my personality. At times, my work is impulsive, sparked by a fleeting inspiration—perhaps a motif, a colour, or a moment. Often, I am drawn to the philosophical or historical dimensions of a subject, which I then interpret through colour, shape, and composition. Some works carry strong connections to dreams; others explore the relationship between human beings and nature, examining how we exist within and move through the world. These journeys—both physical and internal—are reflected through layered imagery, like a multitude of mirrors. Painting, for me, is a way of connecting with reality while allowing space for the irrational. Ultimately, my work consists of personal reflections on life. The character of my work is diverse and multi-layered, existing on the threshold between realism and abstraction. It draws on influences from the Polish landscapes of my childhood, the boldness and expressive energy of Italy—where I experienced formative moments—and my current life in the UK, particularly the landscapes and communities of East Sussex. These influences manifest in various forms: pure landscapes, figurative compositions, sequences of studies, or large-scale explorations of animals. I typically work in series, often developing multiple paintings simultaneously. This approach allows me to observe how a concept evolves across different surfaces and possibilities, deepening my understanding of the work as a whole. It feels akin to directing a film—I follow atmosphere, rhythm, and the presence of characters, exploring the energy of the subject as it unfolds. I use a variety of media, primarily working on canvas with acrylics, oils, and oil sticks. In the past, I have also worked extensively with watercolour, chalk, charcoal, and gouache. Drawing remains fundamental to my practice; it is inseparable from my painting and deeply connected to my way of thinking. My process often begins with water spray and broad, gestural brushstrokes. As the paint drips and moves, I respond by shaping the composition, allowing forms and figures to emerge organically.
