The subject is a Red & White Plum tree. The artist created the beautiful painting with Sumi-E technique on a handmade Unryu (Dragon Cloud) Washi paper with freshly made Sumi ink and Chinese paints, and finished the painting with Urauchi technique, a wet paper mounting technique. Unryu (Dragon Cloud) Washi paper is a mulberry paper with visible paper fibers. The painting is stretched with Urauchi technique (a wet paper mounting technique) and it's ready to be displayed in a frame. *About Urauchi {pronounce like "Wu-ra-wu-chi"}Techinque: Asisn calligraphies or Sumi-E paintings that are painted on any rice papers, like Washi or Xuan papers, usually appears with wrinkles or waves when it is dried. Because of the wrinkles or waves on the paper, it can NOT to be framed without this Urauchi technique. Most of Japanese Calligraphies and Sumi-E paintings are stretched using with this technique. )
