About The Artwork

Idea: Popemobile as an extremal work of art. The slavery of men in Jesus pocket. The desire to see things that do not exist. A tenth of my experience goes to the church donation box. Advertising one’s honest intentions and purchasing redemption of sins. Description: I was raised in an overly religious family. Some time passed before I found my God. I have come a long and hard way, thoroughly exploring the topic of religions and confessions. I present a piece in which I contemplate Roman Catholic Church. It’s called “Reflections on Catholicism”. I suppose it is one of these artworks that do not necessarily need much thinking. All its metaphors and allegories lie on the surface, which makes the picture none the less deep. I tried to portray the essence of the papacy and Catholic religious service. I believe that things haven’t changed much since the times of inquisition, the crucades, and purchasing redemption. It probably takes different forms today. But it still does exist. --- Original art by Sergey Es from his early works. This painting on paper is coated with special varnish preserving the vividness of the pigments. Each corner has a small hole for pins. The painting needs to be framed under glass for hanging on the wall. This painting is unique. The artwork will be delivered carefully packed in a tube.

I’m an outsider artist, working in Art Brut style in my own way, which I call psychoart. In my works I explore reality, thoughts and ideas, passing them through the prism of my vision, partly formed by the disease - schizophrenia. The main subject I work with is the transformation of images, concepts, ideas, forms and meanings in the consciousness and unconscious of an individual whose thinking is qualitatively and fundamentally different from the generally accepted standards and norms. I explore the influence of my mental characteristics on understanding processes such as art, creativity, and the search for meaning. The process of creation in my work differs from the classical one in that it is controlled by the periphery of the unconscious or by something or someone, but not by me. I do not work on artwork in the ordinary sense, as other artists do, I do not select colors, I do not build a composition. I ask the Universe a question and get an answer in the form of an image, which I then transfer to the canvas. Often the view comes in a dream or half-sleep. I do fine art with children suffering from mental disorders and diseases. In our society, mental illness is something shameful, although it is as tragic as cancer, for which the patient is not guilty. I try to change the attitude of the established majority opinion to this issue.
