ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Faces of Time is a series made by Emaylo made up of 20 watercolors. The masks were created on paper during the 2020 pandemic. Once painted, the artist cuts out scales that fluctuate over the design. These watercolors are born from a time of uncertainty, a moment of isolation in which everything seemed to repeat itself ad infinitum . The artist investigates with the blue tones of this series the oscillating cycles of feelings and sensations that he was perceiving during the quarantine. Emaylo, is 33 years old. He is an Argentinian multidisciplinary visual artist, born in the city of Resistencia, Chaco province. Since 2015 he lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His artistic production includes painting, drawing and photography. With his works the artist investigates the relationships between temporality and regeneration through different signs, symbols and captions. His current research dialogues with the different ways of reconstructing materials: such as sewing in making clothes and kintsugi in the art of ceramics.
