Riabininohadros, dinosaur from Ukraine Painting

Riabininohadros is currently the only known dinosaur found on the territory of modern Ukraine. Before the beginning of the Cenozoic era, the territory of modern Ukraine was covered by the ancient Tethys ocean. Therefore, aquatic forms dominated here - basilosaurs and plesiosaurs, but there were no real dinosaurs. Almost none. The discovery of ankylopolelexian dinosaur bones in the Crimea in 1934 was the first and so far the last. Fragments of the hind limbs were discovered by Gertrude Weber. Therefore, the animal received the specific name weberi, but since Weber was female, the name was later changed to weberae so that the end of the species name would also be female. The remains were originally identified in 1945 as Orthomerus. They were described by the same paleontologist as the plesiosaur from the Kharkiv region - Anatoly Ryabinin. In 2020, the species name Riabininohadros weberae was approved. In fact, Riabininohadros was not 100% the only hadrosaurid from Crimea. In 1965, more fragments of the hind limbs of another species of iguanodontian ornithopods were found, but there is little information about them. At the moment, fossils are located on the territory of the Russian Federation and Ukrainian scientists do not have the opportunity to study them in detail.
