About The Artwork

On a canvas painted in warm brown tones, you are presented with an image of Old Riga, like a monument to time and history. The city streets, paved with cobblestones, gently curve and disappear into the distance, as if a glimpse into the past. Tall buildings with beautiful Renaissance and late Gothic Renaissance architecture stand in close proximity to each other, creating a unique ensemble. Each building carries the traces of time - the worn stone facades and windows that have changed over the years. Vintage-dressed figures stroll the streets of Old Riga, as if from a bygone era. The atmosphere of tranquility and grandeur permeates every corner of this painting, as if inviting the viewer on a journey through time and the culture of this remarkable city.

Graduated from the Latvian Academy of arts in Riga. While studying there, Alexey chose the author's technique of graphic oil painting. It is the conciseness of monochrome painting, but at the same time, its versatility that allows the author to Express himself. Pencil graphics use only lines and strokes as the main visual means, while oil graphic painting allows you to use an expressive stroke, color, and unique texture of oil. All these techniques are reflected in a variety of urban landscapes of the author. Alexey is attracted by the extraordinary magnetism of European cities. He knows how to find the original, only he can see the characteristic features of the cities of the Old world. For their vivid expression, the artist does not need a rich color palette. The artist's skill lies in the fact that he works with tones and semitones: starting his strokes with ivory and vanilla and taking them to the lower color register - in the dark tones of bitter chocolate. However, this is what gives the artist's work a special zest and testifies to the real skill of the author.
