Art Description

Painting: Oil, Gesso, Color on Canvas.

This artwork is from the series of Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, or Epic of Kings ( the 10th-century Persian poet ) --

It's inspired from the story of Rostam the legendary Persian hero in Iranian mythology, ridding his horse Rakhsh , looking back at the history he leaves behind --

A large variety of colors situated beside each other in order to create a unique mix in the viewer’s eyes --
Thick layers of paint creating a strong texture which in a way reminds us of the Persian hand woven carpets and rugs --
At the same time the bright colors and the patterns they make brings a certain dynamics and movement in the overall image --

The subject of these series are the stories that most Iranians grew up with since poetry and mythology plays a huge role in our everyday lives -- The style and technique is something personal that was created during my working years --
