"Sage" is an image I was compelled to paint; The gestural lines, his powerful muscle structure, combined with his gentle gaze, "Sage" is a bold yet peaceful portrait that conveys serenity and evokes a sense of peace when viewing him. Because "Sage" is such a beautiful horse, to paint him in another medium wouldn't do him justice. I discovered the joy of working in oils later in my career but I am now completely captivated. This image is the 4th oil I ever created and by chance, I painted it just 3 weeks before I spent 4 months on a horse ranch that provides therapy for at-risk teens. My time spent living so closely with such beautiful and amazing creatures deepened my appreciation on every level: their individual personalities, their handsome physique (seeing them daily, up close & personal, allowed for greater anatomical knowledge), their keen awareness and sensitive natures, especially where the teens are concerned. Even though they're such powerful animals, with the right training and personalities, they possess a sensitivity to children. The therapy horses are especially tender to those from difficult backgrounds; from this experience, I gained an even deeper respect and love for these equestrian heroes. As I paint them now, the work is highly informed by my entire experience and like the horses themselves, each painting has a piece of my heart & soul.

I lived and worked as a professional artist in Southern California four decades and now Dallas, Texas. Both states offer amazing inspiration grounded in the diverse landscapes and the colorful residents sharing their warmth and charm. My creative endeavors have primarily focused on creating original works for collectors and design projects around the world. My work is displayed in private collections and residences, public settings including large hotels, restaurants and bistros from California to Texas, and Bahrain to Beijing. As a self taught artist, having inherited my creativity from my professional art director father, my work is in flux as I continually explore new media and technques. I am not tethered to one set style nor medium; I spontaneously took up oils in 2014 for a rush client project (due & completed in 36 hours) and was immediately hooked! The magic of oils is their vibrant pigments, vital versatility, and the quixotic rush of capturing one's vision on canvas thus it happens to be my favorite method of translating my concepts to share with others. My colorful journey continues and eventually, may my epitaph read: She came, She saw, She created.
