Ruekmon was born in 1971 in Madrid, the city where he has spent most of his life and where his current painting studio is located. In 2011 he graduated with a degree in Market Research and Techniques, and in 2014 he received his PhD from the University of Alcalá. The work he has carried out during these last years has given him the opportunity to travel and stay in countries with very diverse cultures and traditions; gathering from them experiences that have served as a source of inspiration in his works. From a young age he was drawn to painting, but it wasn't until the late 1990s that he began his journey in the art world. His first solo exhibition was held at one of the Cultural Centers of the City of Madrid in 1997. Since then, he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, showcasing works in diverse styles, from figurative painting to purely abstract pieces, experimenting with all kinds of media and techniques, although currently his work focuses on oil painting. Likewise, the themes addressed in his works are very diverse, ranging from everyday scenes of life to images that express his own dreams and feelings, including interpretations of classical works. After a period of learning and his own evolution as an artist, influenced by three different pictorial styles—figurative painting, expressionism, and abstraction—he defined his current painting style. This style, which he calls "Cyclic Painting, " uses color contrasts and spiral forms to express sensations of fluidity, movement, and energy.
