ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Built in 1764, Sandy Hook is the oldest surviving lighthouse in the United States. Historical places have always intrigued many, including myself. It's hard to not look upon them and imagine what it was like for the people at the time. I used an historical photograph for the reference and it just felt right to use more muted tones with it. I always prefer oil, and this was painted upon a canvas panel. I ship it with a simple black frame so that it is ready to hang.
