ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Savage Beauty is directly inspired by the cave paintings of prehistoric times. I used inks in natural earth colours in Burnt Sienna, Greys and Yellow Ochre to evoke the feel of ancient paintings. The large scale of the piece makes the stag close to life size and feel very free as it leaps. Painted using brush and ink on Khadi Rag Paper, the surface is a 100% rag cotton made in India and is beautifully strong and durable.

I am an artist based in Gloucestershire, UK but originally from Perthshire, Scotland. I have been fortunate to exhibit in some prestigious institutions including Royal Academy, London, RWA, Bristol and RSA, Edinburgh. I trained in Fine Art Drawing and MFA Painting and have literally been drawing my whole life. My proudest achievement is having my ink drawing 'Ghoul School' in the permanent collection of Prints and Drawings at The British Museum. I was also delighted to receive 'Finest Drawing' award at the National Open Art Competition in 2013.
