About The Artwork
I have always had a fascination with Bobby Darin's song 'Mack the Knife'. It is such a uniquely dark song. The title of this painting comes from that song. I have also had a fascination with sharks; they are simply terrifying. I was inspired by the song to create this painting. I love how truly intimidating sharks are. This painting hints at the fact that the shark is hunting, about to strike. This shark carries a sense of cunning, power and strength.

Nathan's work ranges from abstract to representational. He takes on a lot of commissioned projects, both abstract and representational. The spirit realm is his muse. Most of his work deals with the spirit realm whether it be representational or abstract in nature. Nathan is also a painting instructor. When not painting, he spends time with his 2 boys exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
