About The Artwork
I have had a lifelong interest in celebrity, also mythology, Paganism and the occult. When I painted my Celtic icons, I sought to portray the archetypes of Celtic gods and goddesses in the context of certain celebrities whom I admired, thus this series of five portraits in iconic style. I was influenced by Mediaeval paintings, book reliquaries and artists such as Gustav Klimt and Odilon Redon. This one has elements of the Pagan God Cernunnos and also of the archangel Michael.
