Nature, and flowers in particular have inspired my work. My primary theme is the exploration of natural forms and, in my more recent work, of flowers. Flowers to me are representative of the microcosm in relation to the macrocosm, the finite as expressive of the infinite. Flowers have also been associated with a long-standing tradition which connects them to female sexuality as many of them resemble in form the female genitalia. This association has been given to my flowers as well, but my main aim in painting the flowers, in great detail and enlarging them, is to transmit the feeling of awe and mystery which I experience before even the minutest forms of nature and this is the feeling which I hope the viewers will experience when they look at my work. I have chosen this subject matter because nature is what inspires me. I use oil paints, canvas and brushes because they belong to the craft of painting which is of great importance to me. The style which I use is realistic because after long observations of natural forms I realised that this is the style which can best represent my interpretations of nature.

I am a painter and I was born and raised in Limassol but emigrated to South Africa with my parents when I was 14 years old. I lived in South Africa for 28 years and returned to Cyprus in 1996, where I have been living and working since. My primary theme is the exploration of natural forms and , in my more recent work in particular, of flowers. Flowers to me are representative of the microcosm in relation to the macrocosm, the finite as expressive of the infinite. Flowers have also been associated with a long-standing tradition which connects them to female sexuality as many of them resemble in form the female genitalia.
