In this painting we see dark blue color movements from all edges and corners tending towards the center forming an elongated oval frame. Towards the center of the picture (and upwards) the blue becomes lighter and lighter until it becomes white. Blue and white are painted into each other in such a way that a flowing transition is created. Numerous red color accents shine out. The oil colors are applied with very wide brushes in swinging, loop-like movements, which are mainly oriented towards the light center. The entire painting is rhythmicized in this way. Dynamic centering towards a rising light phenomenon is the topic. „An important segment of Andreas Kuhn's work deals with painting in blue: spiritual tone has always resided in this color. Certainly it has different symbolic power in the cultures of the world. We know them as the color of freshness, coolness, clarity and also of spirit, of infinity and depth. In the material world of the cosmos we perceive the sky and the sea in blue. Immeasurable sizes. It is noteworthy that the changeable elements water and air are only seen by us as blue through their interaction with light. In the distance lies the substantial essence of this color. Everything seems to be connected there. Things are usually much clearer in the vicinity and can therefore be distinguished from one another. Blue draws the viewer's imagination away. So it has a moving quality that gives depth. However, when dark blue is modulated with white, the color of light, the motive power of blue varies again. A perceptible space develops between the viewer and the color.” Dr. Susanne de Ponte

« I think that art can create a free space in which the constructive and lively imagination is stimulated. » Andreas Kuhn is an established German artist who exhibits internationally. His works can be found in private collections in Australia, Germany, England, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan and USA. With wide bristle brushes, the artist brings the colors onto the canvas in swinging and sweeping brush strokes. The pasty consistency of the oil colors allows each brush trace to remain visible as a relief-like structure. Kuhn often overlays several painting layers to form a complex tissue. The light is refracted and reflected by these color structures in such a way that the image appears different and in motion from every viewing angle. Unleashing the power of colors, balancing counter-movements, modulating light: Kuhn is concerned with the harmonious balancing of all picture elements. One subject of his art is the balancing act itself, the dynamic balance of a variety of viewing options. The artist always works in painting cycles, in which he plays through a common theme, a certain color, different color contrasts and paint application, as well as a special kind of mobility, rhythm, etc. in variations. «My art is pure joy in playing with the variety of color nuances, color intensity, color contrasts, color movements, color jumps ... that can radiate far beyond the playing field. This is serious business. Keep playing too ... Lucky You!»
