Oil on linen 28x38x2cm (11x15x0.8in) 2020, ready to hang. I painted “Self portrait as a joker” choosing from a series of photographs of myself which I took on a photo session in December 2020. Then, I added the Joker’s colours with Photoshop. The portrait is the result of a tormented painting session: the colours are acid and the brush strokes are fast and visible. The lack of details is balanced by a vibrant expressionist technique. I painted the background in acid green to match the yellow and red of the clothes. The sides of the canvas are painted so you can hang the artwork on a wall without a frame (optional). “Self portrait as a joker” is a 28x38cm oil painting, part of a series of self portraits which I made between 2020 and 2021. It is signed on the front and back and comes with a unique certificate of authenticity.

In my paintings I focus on figures and their interaction with the landscape and architecture. After spending some years being very faithful to the samples, I am now experimenting different styles of painting and alternating portraits (mainly commissions) with sperimental artworks. Also, I am increasingly taking advantage of image editing softwares in pre-production to find the best colours and lights for the painting. I use oil colours both on wood and linen. All the materials used in the artworks are high quality, from hand primed canvas (by myself, using a classic method that prevents from aging and deterioration) to colours.
