A self portrait is an emotional bridge with those who see themselves in the snapshot. And photography allows us to have a continuous automatic repetition of this confrontation. The transformation of this connection from snapshot to painting on canvas allowed me to reflect deeply on this expressive form, transforming this mirror of reality into a unique work, this common desire to propose oneself in awareness of being, the reality of a picture in imagination of a painting. The viewer's eye is thus able to perceive the soul of the subject through its physicality. Self-congratulatory vanity, but also the art of proposing oneself #self portrait #malenude #nude #muscleman #hyperrealism #sexy #gay #classicart #instagram

I was born and have lived my whole life in Rome, with which I have always had a hard relationship. Attracted since my school period, having studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, by classical art and by the painting of the Renaissance period, I was then projected for work and research abroad, in the United States and Asia, where I have lived for long periods and where I have honed my taste and open-mindedness. This was only possible because abroad you don't have all that history in your eyes and in your heart, which, however, has always brought me home over the years. Then a year ago I decided to move to Ibiza for a period to go back to painting. I wanted to talk about bodies and muscles and I was inspired by social media. With the help of a few friends, I started portraying models in my villa. I searched and found among the thousands of images that flowed in front of me that classic posture, that way of placing the body full of strength and power, but also grace and amazement, which I saw in the sculptures of Michelangelo and in the paintings of Caravaggio. I experimented with the use of oil color, developing a modern sensibility that led me to create the "Ideal Boys" series, an investigation into selfies through the lenses of the world of Instagram. Then back home I started a new adventure on self portraits, enhancing that moment of vanity inherent in the act of photographing oneself, with the desire to show oneself and get involved. Those portraits, those bodies, those muscles lived through the oil of the canvas and I discovered how this emotion was the most intense I had felt until then.
