The driving force behind the series «Traces» is the need to work with a «neutral» work surface and reduced materials and to lay the traces consciously. The intention is to give more meaning to an individual trace or to use existing traces to create new ones. For this painting I worked with Indian ink and washi paper. Natacha’s statement on her works: « The essence of my work is the naturalness and simplicity in creating something that arises from the very basis. »

Natacha is a contemporary artist whose paintings are characterized by their purity and minimalism. Nature is the heart of her work, a constant source of inspiration and reflection. Her artistic journey began in her youth, nurtured by a deep connection to the visual world. Until 2008, she was self-taught, honing her skills through careful observation of her surroundings. In 2009, she sought formal instruction, enrolling in painting classes. Over time, a yearning for new challenges and a desire to expand her artistic horizons grew stronger. This led her to pursue a degree in Visual Arts at the Visual Art School Basel in 2015. As her studies progressed, a longing for simplification and reduction emerged in her work. This coincided with a growing appreciation for natural materials, fueled by her love for the natural world. This shift was deeply rooted in her personal journey. For years, she had been introspectively examining her thoughts, feelings, and actions. The desire for simplification and the pursuit of inner balance became increasingly important. This simplification, a significant part of her personal growth, found its way into her art. Her work primarily utilizes materials such as ink, gouache, earth pigments, and natural binders. Beyond traditional brushes, she embraces natural elements like panicles, grasses, and wood as creative tools. Sustainability is also integral to her process. She actively recycles and reuses materials, even creating her own paper from waste to incorporate into her artwork. This conscious approach reflects her deep respect for the natural world and her commitment to minimizing her environmental impact.
