Entering into the studio space of the artist we are met with a colorful portrayal of suggestions. The colors are as vibrant as the possibilities within the corner of this room. In the collection finished paintings are offered like stage props from which some other creative expression might flow. With them, a softly draped cloth folds in magical shades of violet and blue. It's fullness can be felt and carries us toward a large brimmed hat . On the floor, a white can of paint rests beside a vintage piano stool and the orange striped walls glow. Is she at the end or the beginning of painting or both? And if so, what? This magical interior landscape leaves a lot open for the imagination and perhaps in it's expressive way invites the viewer to engage as "director" of the adventure as it rests now on the canvas.

ARTISTS STATEMENT: I observe, and participate in, the change of hues. I stand alone in a perspective—influenced by the roads and detours that I’ve chosen. The subjects I interpret on canvas dance with tradition, but underneath exists an individual search for freedom. As a creator, I’ve always been interested in working with color. I see my life as having a palette of its own and I seek to have the chroma of my experiences come through in my paintings. Over time, I’ve realized the only way to achieve this goal is to risk exposure—to unveil my simplified forms to the viewer. Whether the forms operate within the context of landscape or still life, the resulting narrative is always a story of merit, regardless of public perception or understanding. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: I was born in Vancouver, BC in 1958 and then moved to California which is where my parents originally met. I lived there until I was 6 when my family moved across the US to New Jersey for my father's work. I grew up in a creative family and pursued art in college only to leave it upon graduation, dabbling with it over the years that followed. In 2010 I returned to painting on a more committed basis. This was spawned by some significant life changes and painting became my respite. I still reside in New Jersey and as an artist I appreciate the proximity to both Philadelphia and New York City. I've been showing my work since 2011 and continue to do so.
