I’m using the function of portrait as a method, serving to reach the theme of identity, personality. The face, therefore, is synonymous with the concept of the identity. „ How has portraiture changed over the centuries? How have portraits represented their subjects, and how are their subjects interpreted in recent days?” Those are the questions I am working on in my study.

I have been doing portrait paintings for the last 20 years. I sometimes think that it is not just fascination, but it has turned into an obsession. I feel that I can react to the many different situations with the different interpretations of the face. I am convinced that I can read the trace of the life experience, but unfortunately not the story. I find the face as an interface between the inner and the outer world, but no one can get beyond that interface. My portrait paintings clearly express this feeling of the unreachable inner world of the portrayed person.
