Shoe Sale Painting

This painting came about in a playful way. I have been working on a series of Oil Paintings called Portrait of an Artist, where I write (Snail Mail) to other Artist who's work I love and ask them to send me a pair of their old shoes that I can paint as their portrait. Famous Artist and Not so famous, I started this series back in 2008 and has painted over 170 portraits so far. Inbetween working on this series I let my mind wonder to do whatever ..... A friend came by the studio and dropped off some old newspapers, going through them I found all of these vintage Mens shoe ads. The torn paper in this oil painting are from those papers. It is painted on a 30x24x1.5" Museum canvas. I kept this painting for myself back in 2017 but now feel that it should be enjoyed by others.
