Simulacrum Painting

After emigrating to Switzerland and leaving my country of origin Poland behind, I was confronted with a stunning contrast in terms of the nature surrounding me. Thus far, the landscape I knew was planar - a monotonous vastness extending to a distinct perspective. Faced with the inspiring monumentality of the Swiss landscape I became conscious of natures phenomena and value as I perceived how the seasons of the year cyclically interacted with the mountains imbuing them with life simultaneously emphasizing their power, potency and majesty. Especially when the earth's skin basks in the sun nature itself composes an abstract image that we are warranted to lay eyes on. Similar to common children's practice of tracing animal silhouttes in the air, on earth - in contrast to the sky - the sun gives rise to faces. Seemingly arbitrary illumination effects become figurative while we participate in this game in concert holistically commencing to grasp and identify the simulacrum.
