ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Perforated Pool is a boiling pool of water in Yellowstone Park lined with colorful algae. I call it skull pool after the image it presented to me one summer day. To me it looks like the poor fellow was shot between the eyes with a second shot to the side of his skull! I admire this pool for its colors as well as its shape and I think watercolors are a good choice for rendering the beauty of thermal pools . The indentations around the edge of the pool are buffalo tracks, although I don't know why they go there since the water is too hot to drink and probably tastes of sulfur as well.
