About The Artwork
An oil painting in a contemporary, expressive style of the soft light spilling through an avenue of trees. The initial layers of this painting have been built up and blurred, recreating the soft and daydreamy atmosphere found in Kew Gardens on this summer day. I have then overpainted boldly to illustrate the lush weight of the trees and to contrast with the sunlight gently filtering through onto the path, that recedes into the distance. This artwork has been created using Michael Harding Professional Artists Oil Colours on stretched canvas. The edges have been left clean, so this piece can be displayed unframed or framed (please see additional photograph). It is ready to hang. This piece is signed and dated on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature. Most of her paintings are begun outside and completed in her London studio. Although working primarily in oil, Lizzie also enjoys the physicality of exploring etching with zinc and steel plates, to create intaglio prints. Lizzie Butler's artwork has been exhibited at Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London, The Russell Gallery, London, and several other Galleries. Lizzie's paintings can be found in collections in America, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe, with several customers returning to buy further paintings and place commissions. March 2019 - Two pieces shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts summer exhibition.
