"In this new series Vijoli remains faithful to her inquisitive nature, keeping up with her recent research and creating a new object, which indicates in its own particular way a radical reversal in the usual relationship between an audience and an artistic event: the portable painting. It is designed using the essential forms of an exclusive leather handbag, entirely handmade, which frames a little original painting. Each bag is a unique piece, exactly like the portable painting itself; and the bag too is not only carrying a painting, but its colours --both inside and outside-- are conceived in harmony with the chromatic structure of the painting itself. Through these special bags Vijoli is able to take --and not only virtually-- the picture off the ideal wall on which it traditionally hangs, in order to hand it directly over to collectors, and to create a chance to put her work in motion, while having it experienced in a more personal and perpetual way. Concepts like personality and uniqueness are the basis of these works and can be easily found in their meticulous craftsmanship, highlighting the relation between the artisanal skill and the innovative conception where the small, intentional imperfections are a clear example of that relationship. This is Vijoli's answer to an increasing request for unique, hand-crafted, non-serialised artefacts whereas she also creates an artistic object that automatically turns itself into a statement very likely to cause a stir both in the art and the fashion worlds." Vijoli's minimal sign and material redundancy are continuously counter chanting, and that gives her the possibility to find a proper harmony of the opposites: the lightness of the divine message emerges in the purest works such as "Lessons from God" or "Apocryphal Writings", while the irony and love for the heaviness of human things explode in works such as "Family" and "Brainstorming".
