About The Artwork

This is my second abstract painting inspired by a beautiful Egyptian landscape and it's called "Soma Bay Lagune 1". I could not resist creating an artwork that looks like a charming peninsular by the Red Sea. I used sand that I have brought to my studio form this location and so it flows freely together with blue pigments on canvas. Creation of this artwork was a long process, requiring a lot of patience. I created multiple layers of Egyptian sand, stone and marble dust, brown, orange, yellow and blue pigments. That is why this painting is very rich in sandy texture, and yet very firm and time resistant. The canvas is stretched on a thick 4.5 cm chassis. The edges of the painting are nicely finished, so it does not require additional framing and is ready to hang. My signature is on the back of the painting that also comes with Certificate of Authenticity.

I started creating art in the eighties. At first I was fascinated by photography, later I started painting and experimenting with sculpture, but whatever art form I chose, it was always inspired by my adventurous expeditions. I spent a lot of time in Egypt, explored the landscapes of Morocco, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and felt the greatness of Bromo volcano in Indonesia. Colourful and sculpturesque landscapes are my major source of inspiration, especially deserts. I admire the colours, constantly changing shapes of the dunes and sand as a material. I return from all my trips with some sand, soil or volcano ash that I am using to create my art. Some of my pieces were born in the desert and later finished in my studio. My artworks are semi abstract models of the most beautiful landscapes of all the places I have explored and of course Switzerland — where I live and create. My goal is to lay the beauty and tranquility of nature on canvas, by creating emotional, deep and textured semi abstract artworks.
