This gouache was taken after a photograph by Albert Londe, a remarkable medical photographer and researcher who was the first to publish a book of medical photography at the end of the 19th century. The sleeping girl, who apparently suffers from some kind of ailment, really appealed to me, especially because of the dust on the lens, which creates a kind of starry sky in the black area, making her seem to be in an eternal dream. I would like to paint her again with a different technique.
