Following the artworks of Robert Bateman and his detail of animals in realism so many years ago, really determined my style of painting. I wanted my subjects to be just as detailed and realistic; particularly the eyes. Realism to me meant that you knew at once the difference between a Leopard and a Jaguar; subtle to be sure but there IS a difference. Soon I moved to figures, seascapes and my series "The Spirit of the Horse". Since my early teens I have painted with oil on canvas but never had the good fortune to go to Art School. Because this creativity was a need that went beyond mere urge, I was yet another Self-taught Artist. I have been painting for over 50 years with more success in sales than I ever expected.
