ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Spring Charge is inspired by seeing deer in the countryside where I live. I am captivated by a fleeting glance as they bound in an out of view. Often seen in pairs I have tried to capture their fleeting beauty with my inks and attention to the delicacy of their bodies as they leap. Using Sennelier Inks and brush, these animals are painted on pure cotton handmade paper from India. This is evocative of natural animal hide and is a tough but gentle paper surface to paint on.

I am an artist based in Gloucestershire, UK but originally from Perthshire, Scotland. I have been fortunate to exhibit in some prestigious institutions including Royal Academy, London, RWA, Bristol and RSA, Edinburgh. I trained in Fine Art Drawing and MFA Painting and have literally been drawing my whole life. My proudest achievement is having my ink drawing 'Ghoul School' in the permanent collection of Prints and Drawings at The British Museum. I was also delighted to receive 'Finest Drawing' award at the National Open Art Competition in 2013.
