2018. 60x60cm. Oil on canvas. Finished with Art Spectrum Damar Varnish.

This was actually my breakfast a couple weeks ago! Homemade pancakes. I wanted to paint just a simple stack of pancakes with butter and syrup. It always reminds me of this one Paul Bunyan game I used to play as a kid (in PJ's Reading Adventures).

Michelle Angelique is a Sydney-based artist who works primarily in oil, acrylic and metal leaf. A self-taught artist, Michelle initially studied degrees in Psychology, Music and Concept Art before pursuing art full time. Michelle's work walks the line between reality and fantasy as she fuses realism with abstract through her mixed media techniques. Her self-portraits are deep, emotional expressions of her life and story that seek to connect with the viewer and in turn, evoke an emotional response. When Michelle paints the places she has visited, her style allows her to enhance the landscape and to give it an ethereal yet grounded feel. Michelle's work is constantly evolving alongside her own life experiences. Never one to be complacent, she is always experimenting and discovering ways to share her story such that others may connect with it. If Michelle's art can speak to a complete stranger - move them, inspire them - then she has done her job.
