Stand off Painting

This is a typical scene that you see all the time in New York with traffic waiting (impatiently) for pedestrians to cross. ​ I like the panels of light and shade that cut through the scene and also the way the traffic is waiting for the people to cross looks threatening and reminds me of the film 'The Hitcher'. ​ The whole scene made me think about what really makes a city; the people, the buildings, the traffic or a combination of all three. The figure in shade is also really interesting as you can almost miss that he's there.
