Gaye Sutherland grew up and was educated in Geelong, a southern port town in mainland Australia. Life was good with access to coast, bush, farming and city. Art always attracted Gaye and so she completed a 4 year art course at the Gordon Institute of Technology , Geelong, majoring in Textile Design. Work experience consisted of a short time in the fashion industry as a freelance illustrator and designer. Gaye completed a Diploma of Education becoming a Secondary Art Teacher . Over a 25 year teaching span, Gaye worked in both Government and Private Schools in and around Melbourne , Victoria. Travel has also been a great part of Gaye's life and Inspiration for her work . Gaye moved to Tasmania in 2016 with her partner and two dogs. Gaye Sutherland works in oils on canvas.
