Born in Sunderland England in 1950. I professional artist with work in collections in the UK and abroad. I'm married with three children and now live in rural Essex. Photograph of me presenting Tom Stoppard with a commissioned portrait drawing. I have recently had my first novel 'The Picture of Joe Roc' published by J.P.Grinion. I paint mostly portraits. I can draw and paint from direct observation to a high standard but for most of my recent commissions I use photographs. My inspiration comes fom; Carravagio, Velazquez, Rembrandt and Edwardian artists like Philip de Lazlo, John Singer Sargent and William Orpen.
