ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I had these two absolutely amazingly looking pears that I wanted to paint. Their yellow color was so bright that I needed to find some subdued colors to make these fruits shine. I surrounded them with some of my favorite objects; a book by Joseph Brodsky, a Nobel Prize winner in poetry, the Zhostovo tray, Gzhel china cup, saucer and bowl, a wooden sculpture made by my aunt, the artist. The glass carafe joined the arrangement incidentally.

I always loved painting and drawing. After retirement as a life-long researcher in the metrology field, I started painting for pleasure. I continued my creative activity after coming to America from Ukraine in 2007. I joined Tatiana Zaika's art studio in Brooklyn and over the years have participated in many group exhibitions, including annual JASA Art Show (Brooklyn), Pushkin Society Artists Guild, Artios Gallery in New York City and the annual Art Gala at Lake Naomi in Pennsylvania. My inspiration comes from the natural beauty of the world. I love long walks in Poconos where I spend some weekends and a few weeks in summer. All seasons are wonderful there. My paintings reflect the mood and colors that surround me. I hope my viewers will feel that.
