Original on properly sealed wood panel for protection and polished with Renaissance Wax for protection, .25 inch deep, ready to hang in silver-colored frame or place on tabletop easel (included, see photo), Title: Strawberries on Marble, LawtonArtStudio, Still Life Food. My focus is on nature, foods, not from the produce section, but from the garden as well as plants from gardens and meadows. As our world changes I want to show foods and plants as they are today, in all their gemlike beauty and grace. Painting with egg tempera is a visceral experience and an exacting medium. As such an egg tempera painting is comprised of many layers and takes time to complete, but has an ultimate soft silky finish.

My studio is based in New England in the U.S. where I'm close to nature and my main sources of inspiration fruits, vegetables and landscapes. As an egg tempera painter I find many people know very little about the medium. Therefore, I'm happy to discuss it with you should you be interested in my work. Also painting in oil, I look for the iridescence and jewel-like qualities in my 'models' using both mediums. While I like to push against the precision needed for egg tempera painting, I also like the spontaneity of oil. I play the piano, the cello and do a fair amount of gardening which you'll often see in many of my paintings.
