ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Strelitzia / crane flowers / bird of paradise (as they are also aptly named) are native to South Africa and quite common where I now live. However, I first saw these at the botanical gardens as a child and I could not believe what I saw! I remember thinking about them for months afterwards, because they are so unique and completely different from other flowers. These marvellous plants can grow up to 10 meters high! I am fascinated by the beauty and magnificence of God’s creation and try to capture the essence thereof. Luke 12:27 - Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin.
