About The Artwork

The Spanish painter Juan Gris and the life of this enigmatic character, an elegant man, waiting, wearing a green carnation, as a young man I moved to London, I used to visit a bar in soho called the green carnation, that was a cathartic moment in my life, then I learnt that at the end of the the 1800’s gays used to wear a green carnation as a secret signal to recognise each other in a moment where men couldn’t not be themselves, so the image of the green carnation has lived in my head and it worked it out perfectly with my studio of the great Juan Gris.
