Ondřej Rypáček is a London-based painter working primarily in abstraction. His earlier works explore gesture, surface and chromatic tension through a disciplined yet instinctive engagement with oil paint. Trained in contemporary fine art at MFA level, his practice balances control and immediacy: layered structures sit beneath expressive marks, while colour relationships are developed through sustained, material investigation. Rather than narrative, the paintings focus on presence — how colour, weight and surface interact within a confined field. Rypáček’s background in theoretical computer science subtly informs the work’s structural coherence. Beneath apparent spontaneity lies a concern for balance, rhythm and internal logic. The paintings are not decorative improvisations but constructed visual events, where each decision accumulates into a resolved whole. His abstract works have been exhibited in London and are held in private collections.
