Gina Son is a Korean-American Painting Artist who loves Paris and focuses on French impressionism-inspired Parisian cafe scenes. She is based in Austin, TX since 2025 and is a global nomad, having lived, worked and experienced studying people/moods/vibes in hundreds of cafes in Paris, Rome, London, Tokyo, Seoul, Santorini Honolulu and Austin. Gina has always been artistic since age 5, winning awards in her early formative years such as the National Artistic Gold Key award in Hawaii. She has taken art courses throughout her higher education, while earning an MA degree in International Rels. Fluent in 4 language and multi-cultured, Gina feels affinity toward the French cafe culture and its architecture the most. Being romantic at heart, she is deeply influenced by the 19th C. French Impressionism giants such as Renoir and Degas, Monet, but also loves work of Da Vinci, Gauguin, Gogh, Chagall, Metisse, Mary Cassett, and Sergent. All of them positively influenced her art and she studied their depictions of femininity for decades. As a perpetual dreamer and a positive soul, she chooses to paint the beauty of humanity, loves to visually capture the human intrigues, vibes and moods in cafe settings. She gravitates toward depicting women in cafe, in solitude or in company of others, connecting and celebrating life and le joie de vivre. Gina seeks to visually capture the elusive moments of shared affinity between people, with positive and hopeful messages of love and joy. Yes, life has rainy days for all but there is always a beautiful rainbow if you wait. She hopes to convey her belief that life is worth living well, despite all of our issues, sadness and burdens of life.
