ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Mixed media on newsprint collage on stretched canvas with oil, enamel, and fluorescent tempera paints. This is a diptych (two canvases) hung together as one unit. One canvas is 30"h x 24"w, the second canvas is 30"h x 40"w. All edges are gallery wrapped and painted black. This piece is wired and ready to hang either together or separately, vertical or horizontal. It can be shipped in two pieces or as one unit.

Al was born in Providence, Rhode Island, USA in 1954. He moved to South Florida in 1979 where he currently resides. ARTIST STATEMENT: Whether I am painting representational pictures or something purely abstract, I want the surface to be energetic and active enough to pull the viewer closer like a magnet. When I paint images my need to understand who I am as a person and the dynamics of the world around me is revealed in some expressive manner. When my work is abstract, I enter a subconscious world where expressive movement and color guide each gesture and shape to completion, and its essence seems to be captured from an endless sea of electronic impulses.
