From the series: I Saw You, You See Me #6 This portrait of an African girl reminds me of my father's late great grandmother Sasa, born into slavery. After the abolition of slavery in 1863, she still did not live in freedom but had to work on the Surinamese plantation for another ten years. In 2023 it will be 150 years since slavery was abolished in Suriname. Slavery still exists. Many children are victims of modern slavery, practised world wide.
