ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I work in oil always abstract and usually a medium to large canvas. This pieces is the largest thus far. I seemed to need more space to encompass my various mark making choices. Also, its presence in a space is commanding although still subtle and soft. Summer in the City has a quiet strength.

The work appears minimalist at first but a closer look reveals drawing and unexpected marks that are highlighted by the grid drawn into the surface. The color relationships are drawn from nature.
