When the spring snowmelt happens here in northwestern Canada it is a very dreary time of mud and drowned grasses. I painted this picture of a memory of Dartmoor one perfect and happy summer, when fields of barley and wheat were golden ripe, and where red poppies and blue cornflowers grew in everywhere.

I was born in South Africa and then studied for at Rhodes University under professor Brian Bradshaw. I lived in Northwestern British Columbia, Canada for 9 years. and during that time opened an art gallery (with gift shop), and a working studio where I painted and taught people to do the same. Although being a landscape painter using pastel has been a lifelong love, I now explore other media in an effort to express my strong thoughts and emotions\ . This has been a voyage of discovery where I have found new dimensions I was only able to dream of in the past. Please note that ALL of my images (C.N.
