I love to paint sunflowers. They are bright, expressive, they never leave you indifferent. I painted this work on a day free from my main work. It was sunny and frosty. It was winter. On such days, I want a little summer. Hands themselves reach for the canvas. The picture was painted on canvas for printing, stretched on a stretcher, framed. Oil, palette knife.

It is common practice for me to paint with oils and a palette knife in my own original way. Flowers are the centrepiece of my artworks. They amaze me with the complexity of their shapes. They are the center of my interest. I want to know these forms and spread them out on a plane surface. This is a real passion. I also paint portraits, still-life paintings, landscapes, architectural details of ancient buildings. For me, the most important thing in painting is working with color, light, composition, shape and material. Each artwork is a new experience, a new adventure, a new challenge. A lot of the time the ultimate culmination is unknown to me. The more interesting it is to get to my artwork over and over again.
