Sunset at the wharf Painting

This is Paihia wharf in the Bay of Islands as the sun set. The wharf has a popular restaurant called Charlottes Kitchen at the end of it and the ferry to Russell comes and goes until late evening. In the far distance you can make out a dim glow to the flagstaff of Waitangi Treaty grounds. I was enjoying a walk along the beach one evening and particularly liked the way both the sky and artificial lights of the wharf were reflecting on the calm waters. Original oil painting on hand prepared gessoed hardboard panel. This was painted using Gamblin professional oil paints and the back of the board is coated in acrylic paint to protect it. Although this painting is sold unframed I have included photos of it in a frame for illustration purposes only. 8” x 10” is a standard size so finding a frame that you like should be relatively easy.
