About The Artwork
These are sweet peas from my garden, picked and painted in summer 2022. I started focussing on painting flowers during lockdown, and have been able to significantly advance my practice since then. I enjoy working in close-up, as here, as it allows me to capture details of that specific flower in that specific moment. The indigo background highlights the flowers and allows me to play with the properties of the paint. Painted in Winsor and Newton professional watercolours on acid-free cold-pressed 300GSM watercolour paper.
