ABOUT THE ARTWORK

THE NEW EDGE: Original painting, oil on canvas painted 2010. The world is witnessing a series of technological and architectural advancements. This painting is my own inspiration and design that I have envisaged in my Artistic mind. Am looking at different shapes of how buildings and towers should be erected to cater for the ever growing global populations.Using cutting edge technology, these kind of sleek and stable design models could solve the puzzles of resources, housing and space maximization. The powerful lines in the design is of Edge.THE NEW EDGE. This painting can be displayed in any high rise or bungalow building as long as the walls are spacious enough.

PAULO AKIIKI a professional modern, contemporary African Artist Painter. I have a masterly grip on my canvas. My love for Art began when I was still a toddler, scribbling on anything my hands could possibly land on. I registered a strong zeal for this special skill and furthered it when i joined a formal Art School at the prestigious Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts-Makerere University 1994 and graduated 1998 . I pursued various disciplines like Sculpture, Drawing, Ceramics, the History of Art, Graphics, business Studies in relation to Art, but emerged with Painting as my Major. I run UJUZI Art Studios/Gallery which I established and registered in 1999. Studios are currently located on plot 1812 Kisaasi road Bukoto, Kampala, Uganda in East Africa. ‘'I Love and admire the Dutch Master Van Gogh'‘. I am particularly thrilled by his masterly in the way he juxtaposes his pigments to trigger off endless emotions in the eyes of the observer. He mainly uses the Painting technique 'impasto' which simply refers to the application of heavy chunks of paint onto the ground or canvas. In the Impasto technique i register my messages or iconography applying the curly-whirly approach. The technique guides the viewer traversing my canvases from one point to the next and still brings you back creating a continuous movement. I have an extraordinary touch with brush strokes. I blend my sweeping waves of romantic, smooth but rich and harmonizing hues into a well calculated pattern. The rhythm draws you into a golden section of the heart of the painting. Majority of my paintings are on canvas. My art is non-representational, it is semi-abstract, emotional, with a strong iconography, full of energy/with the sun as my signature, modern and contemporary and built with professional materials. Sometimes I do work with traditional subject matter but with a touch of modernity. I LOVE NATURE and the DEPTH AND PERSPECTIVE draws you deep into the inner part of my art. Acrylic and oil on canvas form the main media of my paintings. I use professional art materials that match Internationally accepted standards.
