About The Artwork
My artwork is driven by ideas and images that thread their way through paintings, digital works and fibre works. The colours, symbols and motifs I use are woven together in these diverse forms to tell stories or to comment about my world. This painting depicts the release of koi into the river in Takayama, Japan at festival time. Thousands of koi negotiate these shallow waters. When we were there, most had made it—just a handful were left.
