About The Artwork
The Tatra 87 (T87) is a car built by Czechoslovak manufacturer Tatra. It was powered by a rear-mounted 2.9-litre air-cooled 90-degree overhead cam V8 engine that produced 85 horsepower and could drive the car at nearly 100 mph (160 km/h). It has been one of the first streamlined (aerodynamic) cars in the world with a very low drag coeficient. The streamlined curves gave the car a very elegant stance, which made it a highly sought after car, not just for its technical brilliancy, but also for its gorgeous design. The T87 has been produced from 1936 until 1950 and was driven by famous industrialists, movie stars, automotive racers and also adventurers (Zikmund and Hanzelka) who travelled with it around the globe. Today the Tatra is one of the most sought after historical cars. Very few examples are still in running order, which makes it a desirable and rare vehicle. This minimalist oil painting pays a tribute to the Tatra company and its ingenuity.
